My Process
Every project is a collaborative effort to transform an idea, or even a draft manuscript, into a book. I will work closely with you through every step of the process, beginning with getting to know you and your personal history.
“I had no idea what a transformational experience would transpire. Each interview was well-prepared with insightful questions, humor, and trust. The conversations sparked myriads of memories that I had stored away for decades.”

Listening, Discovery, and Research
Interviews
Historical research
Genealogical research
I’ll ask questions to get to know you, your goals and how you would like to work together. From there, we will build a plan to embark on a series of discussions — in person or via video — about your life.
Think of these more as coffee chats than interviews. I am here to listen, and don’t expect you to have your story fleshed out when we begin.
At your discretion, I will talk with your friends, family members and colleagues who can help prompt memories or provide insight.
At the same time, I will gather information through historical and genealogical research to better understand the details, context and themes of your story.
Narrative Creation and Development
Manuscript development
Editing
Photo and document sorting and scanning
I will weave your collection of memories and anecdotes, along with our research, into a cohesive and compelling narrative focused on the appropriate themes of your story. I will work closely with you to ensure we properly capture your voice (if it is a memoir) and ensure accuracy.
If you already have drafted a manuscript, I can help you organize, flesh out or polish your writing.
Then we will sort through and scan photos, documents and other images that help tell the story.

Preparation for final production
Together, we will develop ideas for the final product. Then I will bring together a team of professional designers who will integrate the various visual elements — such as maps, photographs, timelines and documents — with the text.
A team of experienced editors and photo specialists will help ensure a quality product.

Production management
Product delivery
Once you approve the final layout, I will find the right printer to ensure your book is artisanally produced to the highest standards.
In the end, you will have a beautiful book to showcase.
“The memoir is a HUGE hit!!! My dad couldn’t be more pleased, and he is delighted with the quality, professionalism, and ‘feel’ of the end product…I am so glad he finally has a real book he can hold in his hands.”
